Norway’s top football leagues have voted to scrap VAR after widespread fan backlash. Introduced in 2023, the technology faced fierce opposition, including protests where fans threw fishcakes, tennis balls, and smoke bombs during matches. In a vote, 19 of 32 teams supported its removal, urging the Norwegian Football Federation to discontinue VAR. However, the final decision will be made in March at the Federal Assembly.
