Southern California suspects burglarize Target, hide stolen goods in baby stroller

Two suspects were arrested for allegedly stealing over a thousand dollars worth of merchandise from a Target in Orange County.

The suspects were identified as Monalisa Cristina Barbu, 24, of Rowland Heights, and an unidentified minor, according to the Irvine Police Department.

The theft happened at a Target store located on Jamboree Road in Irvine.

Security cameras captured the suspects pushing a baby stroller to the cosmetics department. The stroller was covered by a blanket but no child was inside, police said.

The pair grabbed large amounts of makeup and beauty products from store shelves and stashed them into the stroller, the theft being concealed with the blanket on top.

As they attempted to leave the store without paying, security workers stopped them and discovered the stolen goods inside the stroller.

The number of stolen items was estimated to be around $1,700 worth and included liquid foundation, face creams, sunscreen, bronzers, clothing and more.

Police arrived at the scene and took both suspects into custody. Barbu was booked at the Orange County Jail for burglary, organized retail theft, conspiracy, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The underage suspect was arrested and later released to family members. However, police said he may face burglary charges.

“We believe a third adult suspect may have assisted them in their endeavors,” police said.
