Vice President Harris is leading former President Trump by 6 percentage points among suburban voters, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released Thursday.

The new survey, taken across September and October, finds Harris leading Trump among the group 47 percent to 41 percent.

Harris is also leading Trump in households with an annual income $50,000 to $100,000 by 2 percentage points. The vice president leads with 45 percent to Trump’s 43 percent.

But the ex-president still maintains a lead with voters who prioritize the economy as the No. 1 issue heading into the general election. Forty-six percent of respondents said Trump was more equipped to handle the issue compared to 38 percent who were in favor of Harris.

Trump has also bested Harris on the issue of crime in recent polling.

But analysts said Harris’s campaign speeches geared towards building an “opportunity economy” have proven effective with voters.

“Her focus on affordability has been highly effective in narrowing Trump’s advantage on inflation and the economy,” David Wasserman, a political analyst at the Cook Political Report told Reuters.

Since Harris became the Democratic nominee in July, she’s bolstered the party’s support from suburbanites by 9 points. A major comeback from Biden’s statistics which trailed Trump at 40 percent to his 43 percent.

Harris’s trajectory also sparked a six percentage point lead with roughly a third of the nation that earns between $50,000 to $100,000.

Data was collected from 6,000 registered voters across six Reuters/Ipsos polls.
