The Flyers have been carrying three goaltenders for a large part of the season, with Kolosov vying for minutes alongside Sam Ersson and Ivan Fedotov.
Head coach John Tortorella recently acknowledged that within the three-goalie system, Ersson was the starting netminder (a distinction that the organization has maintained since last season), while Fedotov was considered the No. 2.
Following rumors from last season that Kolosov was not pleased with his role in the AHL last season, some reports alleged that for 2024-25, Kolosov was seeking a certain amount of NHL minutes. These reports also alleged that if he did not receive said minutes, his preference would be to return back to his native Belarus to play in the KHL.
Flyers GM Danny Briere stated in a press conference on Tuesday that, as far as he knew, Kolosov would have no problem being loaned out to the AHL if that was the decision the team made.
Anthony Richard, who impressed during his stint with the Flyers earlier this season, was sent back to the Phantoms in November. He has 19 points in 18 AHL games this season.
