The rain was falling at Great American Ball Park on Saturday around 5 p.m., and the field was still covered by a tarp, but it remained to be seen if the Cincinnati Reds and their fans would have to deal with a rain delay for the third straight day.
The Reds and Washington Nationals are scheduled to play Saturday at 6:40 p.m. Either rain or drizzle is forecast from 5 p.m. through 11 p.m., with percentage chances for both at above 90% throughout that window.
No official announcements regarding a possible rain delay had been made as of 5 p.m.
Cincinnati is scheduled to send starter Nick Lodolo (3-2, 2.25 ERA) out against Washington right-hander ‘s Trevor Williams (1-3, 5.70 ERA).
It’s also “Star Wars Night” at Great American Ball Park, and a crossover Reds/Star Wars-themed bobblehead is being distributed at the entrance gates. Lines for that were already forming around 3 p.m. as the rain pelted down.

Rain has been problematic for the Reds all week. A Tuesday game against the St. Louis Cardinals was postponed and moved to Wednesday, when the teams played a doubleheader.
Thursday saw the Reds and Cardinals sit through a 1:37 rain delay, and Friday saw the Reds and Washington Nationals wait out the rain for 1:51.
