13 Met Gala Hats That Made a Big Statement

Met Gala hats were the winning accessory of the night and though they were all fairly different, each made a strong statement. The Met Gala 2025’s theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” and the dress code for the event is “Tailored for You.” So, how do hats come into play? Well, key aspects of Black Dandyism is sharp tailored suits, vibrant colors, and of course, polished hats.

This year, we saw some of our favorite A-list celebrities interpret the theme with top hats, berets, and statement-making headpieces. We started off the night strong with Teyana Taylor hitting the red carpet in custom Marc Jacobs with a a red cape and a feathered top hat. The durag underneath was the perfect touch. (Honestly, she was the best dressed in my book.)

Zendaya arrived in the definition of tailored with an all-white suit and matching white floppy hat. Bad Bunny blended traditional Dandyism with his Puerto Rican roots in a Prada suit and pava hat (a type of sombrero from Puerto Rico). K-pop superstar Jennie wore a Chanel tuxedo dress with a chic minimalist hat. Other honorable mentions? Mary J. Blige in Stella McCartney, Jodie Turner-Smith in Burberry, and Tracee Ellis Ross in Marc Jacobs who brought an invigorating hit of pink to the carpet.

Considering the theme is a celebration of Black joy and Black excellence, these hats not only compliment the ‘fits looks but add flare, spirit, and embrace fun textures. Below, 13 great 2025 Met Gala hats.
