Winvic starts work on 544-bed Coventry student scheme

Winvic Construction has started on site to deliver a 544-bed purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Coventry for new client Gilltown.

The project, named Progress House, is located on Westwood Way about a mile from the University of Warwick campus.

Work involves demolishing an existing office building to make way for a six-storey development, which will include a 370 square metre ground floor commercial unit.

Data intelligence provider Glenigan values the job at £96.2m.

Designed to support growing demand for student housing, the scheme will add to existing PBSA buildings within Westwood Business Park.

It includes a mix of en suite bedrooms and communal spaces, such as a gym, fitness studio, cinema room, dining area, games lounge, study rooms and garden lounge. External facilities will include a sports area and a petanque court.

The project is targeting BREEAM Excellent and WiredScore Platinum certifications.

Winvic said it will work with Coventry City Council to deliver social value measures, including local employment, training, and engagement with small and medium-sized enterprises such as Nuneaton Signs.

Completion is scheduled for summer 2027, in time for the 2027/28 academic year.
