A Florida man has been charged with felony battery after an Amazon delivery driver called 911 when he encountered a woman who appeared to be in distress.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, a deputy with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a home at around 4:45 p.m. local time on Friday, March 28.
The Amazon driver had called 911 to report that while he was making a delivery at the home, the woman who answered the door whispered, “Help me.”
When the deputy arrived, he saw the woman — who “appeared in distress and had obvious red marks on her neck,” per the affidavit — sitting on the front porch with 43-year-old Frank Mandolini.
The woman told the deputy that she and Mandolini — who had previously been married and were still living together — had gotten into an altercation after she accused him of using his phone and other electronics to “talk to other women or watch porn,” the affidavit states.

Mandolini allegedly then grabbed the woman by the neck, dragged her to the floor and began choking her. The woman told the deputy that she had begun to “lose consciousness and almost blacked out,” and Mandolini eventually let go.
According to the affidavit, Mandolini later admitted to the deputy that he “did choke her but did not cause her to lose her breath,” and denied the charge.
Additional court documents state that a child also lives in the home, and that the Florida Department of Children and Families was notified of the incident.

According to court records, Mandolini — who has previously faced another domestic violence battery charge — was charged with one count of felony battery by strangulation. He was taken to jail, and later posted a $30,000 bond on March 31.
Mandolini is set to be arraigned on June 5, per court records. He was also ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
