Bennett has been appointed to build a £50m retirement village in Cambridgeshire.
The job involves the delivery of 147 homes – a mixture of bungalows and flats – for luxury retirement-community developer and operator Rangeford Villages.
The scheme will be known as Strawberry Fields, in a nod to the site’s former use. It will be located in Stapleford, to the south of Cambridge.
Paul McGee, joint managing director of Bennett Construction, said: “This is a flagship project for ourselves and our client in the retirement-living sector, and we look forward to delivering a very high-quality product in the collaborative approach that we bring to all of our projects.”
The development will feature a gym, dance studio, bistro, coffee shop, bar, village hall, hair and beauty salon, and wellbeing centre with pool, steam room and sauna. The first phase will be completed in 2024 with the full project aiming for a 2025 finish.
Rangeford Villages chief executive Howard Nankivell said: “The Strawberry Fields site is phenomenal, and we are keen to do it justice by providing quality homes, facilities and services for its residents.”
The scheme is Bennett’s second ongoing project in Cambridgeshire. The firm is also currently building a 373-home development in nearby Eddington.
Bennett has delivered many residential schemes in recent years. The Ireland-based business built almost 700 residential units at London’s Greenwich Millennium Village, and delivered 196 residential units in Leyton, east London, for Pocket Living earlier this year.
