Tips to shop a mattress
What were last year’s best Black Friday and Cyber Monday mattress deals?
Last year, Black Friday mattress sales were plentiful. One of the best discount we saw was Termpur-Pedic and Casper’s 30% sitewide sale. Some other standouts: Leesa offered $200 off with two free pillows bundled, Helix and Tuft & Needle boasted a 25% off sitewide sale, Avocado held an up to 20% off sale, and Purple offered up to $900 off at checkout.
Should I buy a mattress on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?
Some of the best times to buy a new mattress are during the beginning and end of the year. Presidents’ Day sales in mid-February start the year with excellent deals on a mattresses and bedding. And right now, retailers are announcing early mattress deals leading up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Our best tip to shop a new mattress? Figure out your sleeping habits. Are you a back, side, or stomach sleeper? Or a combination of all three? Each sleeping position will determine the type of mattress you should buy. If you’re a side sleeper you want a mattress that contours the side of your body with medium-firmness. If you’re a stomach sleeper look for more firmness, and if you’re a back sleeper a medium-firm mattress that supports your back without sinking in is ideal.
Casper is serving up some early Black Friday sales on mattress bestsellers like the premium foam mattress and cooling hybrid mattress (ideal for hot sleepers). The former is $200 off at $799 for a queen size, while the latter is discounted 25% off.
Tuft & Needle has already dropped prices for two of their well-loved pressure-relief mattresses, including the T&N Mint Hybrid model that’s over $100 off, and combines memory foam and bouncy springs for a super comfortable sleep. The T&N Original is also on sale at under $600, making it the best overall mattress deal we’ve seen thus far.
Avocado currently marked down their Ultimate Organic Mattress from $1,399 to $1,189, which comes in a variety of sizes from twin-sized, to a Queen mattress and California King. It’s suitable for those with back pain or chronic side sleepers because you can customize your pillow-top feel between plush, medium-firm, or firm. Their luxury organic innerspring mattress is also on sale for $3,039, a great option if you’re looking for an eco-friendly and firm mattress.
While we’re still awaiting steady price drops at Purple for mattresses, the brand is giving us a Black Friday tease with deals on their Harmony Pillow (buy 2, get 10% off) and Essential Comfort Bundle which is on sale for $170 and includes a mattress protector and sheet set.
