PEORIA, Ill (WMBD) — Two dogs were released on an unhoused encampment, sending two to a hospital, according to a local organization.
According to a Facebook post by LULA, an organization that helps the unhoused, The two dogs were released to the encampment by a person who did not live in an encampment, the dogs proceeded to attack people at the encampment, sending two to the hospital. The attack lasted for approximately 15 minutes.

The post comes after many reports of city workers tearing down the encampment started to swirl.
“We’ve seen multiple photos of city workers removing items from camp today and wanted to let folks know that this was done on the request of outreach workers. The city was NOT there to tear down the camps,” the post said.
The post said that one of the people who was sent to the hospital required surgery, and the other was released from the hospital at midnight.
Police arrived on the scene and had to kill one of the two dogs after unsuccessfully tasing it, and took the other into their custody, it said.
The post also said, that the person who was sent home allegedly was sent back in paper scrubs and hospital socks, with dog bit marks that we to the bone, to the bloody tent where the attack happened. LULA currently has this person in a hotel being taken care of by a street medical team.
Due to the large amounts of blood at the encampment, the city workers cleaned up some of the items as requested by an outreach supervisor, the post said.
