The Philadelphia Eagles are turning inward to replace Kellen Moore.
The Eagles promoted Kevin Patullo and made him their next offensive coordinator on Wednesday afternoon. Patullo has been the Eagles’ pass game coordinator for the past four seasons, and was their associate head coach for the last two.
Patullo will now take over for Moore, who left the Eagles to become the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints after their win in Super Bowl LIX earlier this month. Moore spent just a single season as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator. The Eagles are expected to hire Miami Dolphins assistant Parks Frazier to replace Patullo, according to NFL Network.
“That continuity is really important because he knows what I’m thinking in certain situations, how you want things to be taught, all of those different things, so he’s been a great resource for me the entire time, our success this year, but really the success we’ve had since we’ve been here,” Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said in a statement. “Can’t be great without the greatness of others and that is definitely a fact with Kevin Patullo and I trust him with everything. Got a ton of trust and faith with him. He’s awesome.”
Patullo is entering his 16th season as a coach in the league this fall. He got his start with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007, and he spent time with the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts before joining the Eagles ahead of the 2021 campaign. This will mark his first stint as an offensive coordinator.
The Eagles rolled over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl earlier this month, which brought the franchise its second-ever championship and ended hopes of a historic three-peat for the Chiefs. The Eagles went 14-3 this season, won the NFC East and reached the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons.
