It was not too long ago that the cropped motorcycle jacket (usually leather) was That Girl in terms of fall jackets, and Emily Ratajkowski is already bringing it back.
The podcaster, model, and actor was spotted in New York City on December 10 in the GapStudio coated denim moto jacket, designed by Zac Posen, while on one of her daily walks in the city. She styled it with a red-and-brown-striped zip-up sweater—featuring what looks like a built-in scarf—and low-rise cargo pants. Classic Timberlands, chunky gold jewelry, and skinny sunglasses completed the ensemble.
For years now the oversized leather jackets favored by the likes of Hailey Bieber and the Hadid sisters have been fashion girlies’ go-to fall coat. But back in the early 2010s, it was the cropped, fitted moto jacket that had us all in a chokehold. These motos were usually black leather but could also be found in more interesting colors or synthetic fabrics for cheaper prices at fast fashion chains like ye olde H&M, as well as in high-end designer variations. Pairing them with skinny jeans, heels, and a wide-brimmed hat, anyone could fancy themselves Alexa Chung.
Now, a decade later, Emily Ratajkowski is clearly enjoying a nostalgia moment and possibly signaling the return of this old, fitted favorite.
