Emily Ratajkowski Just Got the ‘Worst Haircut’ of Her Life

You never forget your first bad haircut—or any bad haircut, for that matter—even if you’re Emily Ratajkowski. On TikTok the model posted a “story time” video in which she shows off what she calls “the worst haircut of my life.” The video starts off with a filter, so we can’t see exactly what’s going on initially, but she quickly cuts to her current hairstyle, which can only be described as a jellyfish cut crossed with a shag. She shows off short, choppy bangs all over her head with longer hair underneath. “Oh, you thought I was going to be funny? Like, I have bangs on the back of my head,” she says in the video.

She doesn’t name names: “The very nice man who did this to me, I think he was, like, going British shag. British shaggy. But, like, the main thing is it’s not me, you know? Shocking. Shocking,” she says. While it does look like a shag (a choppy layered cut worn messily), it also looks like it could be a jellyfish cut, which has been a celeb favorite as of late.

“The jellyfish haircut is a bilevel haircut with short pieces or bangs around the face and top with longer layers and length in the back,” says Rogerio Cavalcante, owner and hairstylist at The Second Floor Salon in NYC. “The shorter layers can vary in length but are no longer than bob length.” Our question, though: How does one end up with a haircut like this if they don’t ask for it?

I, for one, feel her pain. There’s nothing like a haircut gone wrong. But it»s going to take a lot more than an iffy haircut to keep Emily Ratajkowski down. Keeping it light, she jokingly posted another video recreating the haircut scene from Fleabag. For this one, she’s curled her strands, and I gotta be honest—it looks really good.
