Former Galliard Homes boss Donagh O’Sullivan has been appointed chief executive of the Battersea Power Station Development Company.
O’Sullivan, who had a six-week stint at the helm of troubled Inland Homes prior to its collapse last year, will lead the development company from next week.
After starting his career with Balfour Beatty, the chartered civil engineer joined Galliard in 2001, rising to become its chief executive from 2017-2022.
Two of the planned eight phases of development at the brownfield site have so far been completed, including restoration of the iconic Grade II*-listed former power station building by Mace, which was completed in late 2022.
According to the client, 25,000 people will “be living and working” on the development when it is finished.
Some 2,500 currently live on the site, and office space includes Apple’s 500,000 square foot UK headquarters.
Battersea Power Station Project Holding Company chair Tan Sri Jagan Sabapathy said that O’Sullivan’s “exceptional leadership skills, strategic insights and deep industry knowledge” made him the “ideal choice” to lead the project.
“Don joins us as we embark on the next phase of development at Battersea Power Station and as we strengthen the performance of our assets under management including the iconic Grade II*-listed power station.”
O’Sullivan said: “I have long been an admirer of this landmark project on our wondrous London skyline. The exceptional vision and extraordinary commitment shown from the shareholders and the whole Battersea team has already delivered beyond expectations – I am very excited to have the opportunity of playing a part in the next stages of the great Battersea Power Station story.”
The Battersea Power Station Development Company is owned by a consortium of Malaysian investors, with the largest shares owned by Permodalan Nasional Berhad and the Employees Provident Fund Board of Malaysia (EPF).
