Watch: Mariner’s Maximus Brady wins fourth state wrestling title
In the Class 2A title match at 138 pounds, the Mariner senior pinned his opponent in one minute to win his fourth state title.
The latest achievement for Mariner wrestler Maximus Brady should come as no surprise.
Brady was selected as Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Wrestling for 2025 after a senior season where he went undefeated, according to a Monday news release. He captured his fourth consecutive state title by pinning his opponent in one minute in the Class 2A final at 138 pounds.
Brady, a University of Northern Iowa commit, finished his high school career with a 185-5 record.
“I’m glad to see the state recognize my hard work and dedication to the sport,” he said.
In winning four state titles, Brady became the first wrestler in Mariner history to achieve the feat and the second Lee County wrestler since Riverdale’s Scotti Sentes completed the four-peat from 2004 to 2008.
Mariner head coach Clayton French told The News-Press in February that Brady’s remarkable high school career will loom large.
“This is my 20th year coaching, and I’ve never coached a kid going for four titles,” French said. “And there’s a very good chance I won’t have another one. I guess you can say, as a coach, he’s a once-in-a-coaching-career wrestler.”
