No. 4 Tennessee (39-11, 14-7 SEC) defeated No. 16 Ole Miss (34-14, 10-11 SEC), 7-1, Sunday at Ole Miss Softball Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi.
The Lady Vols won the series.
Ole Miss led, 1-0, in the first inning after former Tennessee player, Lair Beautae hit a RBI double. She played for the Lady Vols from 2022-23 before transferring to Houston last season.
Tennessee led, 3-1, in the third inning after Taylor Pannell hit a three-run home run. She went 1-for-4 in the series finale against the Rebels, recording one home run, three RBIs and one run.
The Lady Vols scored two runs in the fifth inning after Saviya Morgan hit a RBI single. Later in the fifth inning, she was part of a successful double steal..
Junior pitcher Karlyn Pickens (20-6) pitched 2.1 innings in relief. She allowed two hits and recorded four strikeouts. Pickens totaled 38 pitches, including 25 strikes.
Sage Mardjetko started and pitched three innings for the Lady Vols. She allowed one run, one hit and three walks, while recording three strikeouts. Mardjetko totaled 70 pitches, including 41 strikeouts. Erin Nuwer and Peyton Tanner also appeared in relief.
