An officer with the San Angelo Police Department sustained injuries Friday morning after responding to a call to check out suspicious people, an SAPD media release said.
The officer was transported to Shannon Medical Center for treatment, and a man was taken into custody in connection with the incident, police said in the media release.
Paul Garcia, 38, was charged with three county warrants, failure to identify, resisting arrest and evading arrest or detention, the media release said.
Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Around 9:26 a.m. Friday, San Angelo police officers responded to a call regarding suspicious people in the 4400 block of Green Valley Trail, police said. They identified a man matching a description provided when they arrived.
They tried to detain the man during the course of the investigation, police said. The man, identified as Garcia, began resisting arrest, leading to a physical altercation. One officer was injured.
Garcia sustained minor injuries during the struggle, police said. So before he was taken to the Tom Green County Jail, Garcia was first brought to Shannon Medical Center for evaluation and medical clearance.
Police said Friday morning that no further details were available.
The name of the injured officer and his condition were not provided in the media release.
Garcia was not yet listed in online Tom Green County Jail records just before noon Friday.
