Police received a call on Wednesday (January 22) from a fishing boat that had discovered the semi-submerged vessel at the entrance to the Camarinas-Muxia estuary.
The fishing boat had begun towing the vessel to port when it broke into two sections with the stern sinking due to its heavier weight. On Thursday, Guardia Civil resumed the towing works.
On June 2024, Spanish customs officers intercepted a similar so-called ‘narco-submarine’ off Spain’s Cadiz coast.
