Star Trek: Discovery Alum Doug Jones Joins Horror Film The Weeping

I’m not crying, you’re crying (in excitement, of course)!

Today, we found out that Doug Jones—whose previous credits include playing Saru on Star Trek: Discovery (pictured above with Sonequa Martin-Green), Abe Sapien in Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy, Amphibian Man in del Toro’s The Shape of Water, vampire leader Baron Afanas in What We Do in the Shadows, and the body of Mac Tonight from those early 1980s commercials you know you remember—has joined the cast of the haunted forest horror film The Weeping.

According to Deadline, the movie is an original story from writer-director Spyder Dobrofsky and “revolves around a group of friends who go camping in a protected Native American forest and unwittingly wake up an ancient witch that haunts all who trespass.” It’s produced by Giovanna Andolina under the Worlds Apart Banner.

We don’t know who (or what?) Jones is playing, but odds are good that it will be something supernatural haunting humans.

In addition to Jones, The Weeping stars Reggie Lee, Chase DeMoor, Isabelle Hahn, Jordan Kennedy, and Craig Ng. The movie, which is Dobrofsky’s follow-up to his 2024 film Down Below, looks to be in its early production days, and there’s no news yet on when the movie will haunt a screen near you. icon-paragraph-end
