Transport Scotland has published a prior information notice (PIN) for the fifth section of the A9 road dualling programme, covering a 6.4km stretch from Pitlochry to Killiecrankie.
Valued at £205m, the project will dual a section of the A9 in Perthshire, converting four kilometres of single carriageway to dual carriageway through online widening, with a further two kilometres built on a new alignment.
The notice, published on 30 April, outlines a design-and-build contract that includes upgrades to junctions at Pitlochry North and South, the construction of several new underbridges and retaining walls, and the replacement or improvement of multiple culverts and structures.
The scheme also includes the installation of traffic management systems and sustainable drainage systems developed in consultation with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.
Located in a sensitive rural corridor near the River Tay Special Area of Conservation, the project aims to reduce environmental impact and improve safety for all road users. Landscape establishment and defects correction periods will each last 260 weeks.
Procurement will proceed via a competitive dialogue route under the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015.
A contract notice is expected to be published by 14 July.
