Many Taylor Swift fans are taking a break from searching for Reputation (Taylor’s Version) updates to theorize over her attendance at this year’s Met Gala—and Travis Kelce’s latest outing may serve as a clue.
On May 1, the 35-year-old NFL player was spotted in New York City just five days ahead of fashion’s biggest night. According to Page Six, Kelce was posing for a photoshoot in a white cable knit sweater with green details, which he paired with cream pants and sneakers. You can see the images here.
Though his attendance has not been confirmed, some fans took his NYC visit as a sign he’ll be making his Met Gala debut in a few short days. “There for the Met?” one fan replied to a People Magazine Instagram post, while another commented, “Met Monday!”
If Travis Kelce does attend the Met Gala on May 5, he’ll hopefully be accompanied by Taylor Swift, marking their first joint red-carpet appearance, as well as her first Met Gala in nearly 10 years. The last time Swift attended the Met Gala was the same year she co-chaired the event in 2016.
At the time, the singer went for a “futuristic gladiator robot” look inspired by the theme, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” She wore a pair of black gladiator stilettos and silver cutout dress by Louis Vuitton, though the real star was her famous bleach blond bob. “It was Vogue’s idea,” she told the late André Leon Talley on the red carpet.
Unlike last year, when Swift was busy preparing for a round of Eras Tour performances, the couple don’t seem to have any scheduling conflicts that would keep them from attending the 2025 Met Gala. However, that doesn’t mean they plan to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday in May.
