Vice President-elect JD Vance will travel to North Carolina on Friday to survey relief efforts, a spokesperson told The Hill.
He is scheduled to visit Fairview, N.C., weeks after Hurricane Helene devastated the state and others throughout the region.
Vance will host meetings with first responders and families devastated by the disaster in addition to briefings on home renovation projects.
He will also speak with the family of fireman Ray Garrison, a battalion chief who died while rescuing landslide victims.
The trip will take place less than a month after Vance visited the state on the campaign trail.
It also comes just two days after a group of House members opposed President Biden’s $100 billion disaster relief effort. Congress is now working to rewire a bipartisan package.
Vance will part with his Ohio Senate seat soon to preside over a federal solution for damaged communities.
