Winvic gains another Magna Park job

Winvic has been selected by developer GLP to construct a 761,000sq ft industrial facility at a logistics complex in Leicestershire.

The scheme at Magna Park North in Lutterworth (CGI pictured) will feature a 716,662sq ft warehouse, a 34,667sq ft three-storey office building, two transport offices and other facilities, Winvic stated. The contractor added that it will fit out the offices to Cat A standards, as well as undertaking landscaping and planting.

Neither Winvic nor its client would disclose the value of the deal but the contractor is also delivering another 761,000sq ft facility for GLP at Magna Park North, valued at £85m by data intelligence firm Glenigan.

Danny Nelson, Winvic’s managing director of industrial, distribution and logistics, said the latest project win was “GLP’s largest ever speculative unit”.

Steel-frame construction will commence in the autumn and the facility will be handed over to GLP in June 2025.

According to the developer, Magna Park will be Europe’s largest dedicated logistics and distribution park when it is completed.

In its latest full-year results, covering the year to 31 January, Winvic stated that pre-tax profit rose by 80 per cent, from £10.5m to £18.9m, driven by strong demand for IT infrastructure.

The firm was ranked 16th in the CN100 2023 table of the UK’s biggest contractors by revenue.
